At the end of last school year, we sent home a letter and an activity sheet with your child’s report card, along with the Unit 10 Benchmark booklet. If your child completed 6 of the 9 activities and submits their activity sheet, they will be invited to enjoy lunch outside with a sweet treat and will earn 5 house points! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you!

Digital Wellness

Henrico County Public Schools is committed to ensuring a balanced approach to technology in schools.
A few highlights for the start of the year:
  • Elementary devices remain at school; no elementary digital homework
  • Devices are stored in classroom technology stations when not being used for instruction
  • Technology use is limited and used only when it enhances learning
  • The majority of the elementary day is centered on hands-on, discussion-based, and other non-digital learning experiences

We will continue to share more information throughout the year.

Securly

Henrico County Public Schools is using Securly to keep students safe on their school-issued devices. As part of our commitment to your child’s safety, all HCPS parents will have access to the free Securly Home app.

Parents can sign in and start using the Securly Parent Portal in any one of the following ways:
Via the Securly Home app
  • Parents can access the app using the link included in the Welcome email sent to new HCPS families and parents not receiving weekly activity reports, beginning August 17, 2026, or
  • Go directly to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store

Via your child’s activity report email
  • Securly sends parents a weekly activity report email for their kids. In the email, click the “View Stories Now” button, which provides a QR code to access the app or a link to view the activity report on the web.

Via the Securly website
  • To access the web interface, use Securly's Parent Login page and bookmark the page to easily access it in the future.
  • Log in using the parent contact email in PowerSchool. Parent contact emails are set during your child's HCPS enrollment.

Echo Lake Student & Family Handbook

The Echo Lake Student and Family Handbook is attached. Please review and save it for reference during the year.

The HCPS Code of Conduct is also attached for your reference. This is one of the items to review and sign for the beginning of the school year in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Class Assignments

As class assignments become visible this Friday in PowerSchool, leading up to the new school year, we would like to remind families that ALL homeroom assignments are still TENTATIVE as classes are being balanced out and teachers assignments are shifted between schools based on enrollment. These shifts may continue through late-August so HCPS can place teachers where they are most needed. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we get ready for the start of a great 2026-27 school year. There may be necessary shifts after class assignments become visible.

PowerSchool Parent Portal

Beginning of the year documents can be accessed using the Parent Portal within PowerSchool. It is best to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal through a web based application. These documents are found under the “STUDENT FORMS” tab.

If you have not already registered in PowerSchool, please do. You will need your child’s 11-digit student ID number. This number is located on your child’s report card. Families of students new to Henrico, will need to complete enrollment and be approved before access and a student number are available.

ParentSquare

ParentSquare uses PowerSchool contact information to create accounts, so updating the information now ensures that everyone will receive back-to-school communication. This information is now editable in PowerSchool, so please take a moment to review and update your family’s contact information in PowerSchool before the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Don't forget to download the ParentSquare App!

Student ID cards

All HCPS students will be provided a student ID card that will be used for:

  • entering/exiting the bus
  • checking out library materials
  • purchasing cafeteria items (breakfast and lunch)
  • accessing technology
  • attending afterschool events

Help your child ensure the student ID is worn daily.

Get Involved - Opportunities Still Available for This School Year!

The PTA is only as successful as the volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to enhancing our school community. For the upcoming school year, we are still in need of a few volunteers for leadership roles, including some that can be done at home on your own time and others that involve a more frequent presence at the school. For more information or to express interest, please email volunteers@elespta.com.

We are specifically looking for individuals interested in any of the following:
  • Coordinating PTA communications (ex: newsletter content, Facebook / Instagram posts)
  • Printing fliers to send home with students as needed
  • Coordinating school movie nights (movie director, anyone?!)
  • Planning programs like International Night & an in-school event for the students
  • Coordinating the Heart-to-Heart breakfast
  • Leading the Reflections campaign to encourage submissions and determine school level winners
  • Planning our PTA membership drive in the Fall
